ANTI- RAGGING MEASURES

 

1.1 BAN ON RAGGING


In view of the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court in the matter of “University of Kerala v/s. Council, Principals, Colleges and others” in SLP no. 24295 of 2006 dated 16.05.2007 and that dated 8.05.2009 in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009, and in consideration of the determination of the Central Government and the University Grants Commission to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging, including any conduct by any student or students, whether by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher, Manipal University Jaipur ensures strict compliance on the prevention of Ragging of any form.

 

1.2 MEASURES FOR PROHIBITION OF RAGGING AT THE INSTITUTE LEVEL:

  • No institution or any part of it thereof, including, but not limited to the schools, the departments, constituent units, colleges, centers of studies and all its premises, whether academic, residential, playgrounds, or canteen, whether located within the campus or outside, and in all means of transportation of students, whether public or private, accessed by students for the pursuit of studies in such institutions, shall permit or condone any reported incident of ragging in any form; and all institutions shall take all necessary and required measures, including but not limited to the provisions of these Regulations, to achieve the objective of eliminating ragging, within the institution or outside.

 

  • All institutions shall take action in accordance with these Regulations against those found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, actively or passively, or being part of a conspiracy to promote ragging.

 

1.3 PENALTY FOR RAGGING


No person who is student of an educational institution shall commit ragging. The Supreme Court of India has ordered that "If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution”.

 

1.4 WARNING


No leniency will be shown to the offenders involved in ragging. All students are requested to note and co-operate in keeping our university and its constituent colleges free from ragging. Names of the officials with photographs and telephone numbers to be contacted in case of emergency are printed in the orientation handbook given by the institution.

 

 

1.5 IMPORTANT NOTE


Action against ragging will be taken as per MUJ Rules & Regulations.
