The Royal Society of Chemistry India and Salters’ Institute UK are conducting a three-day residential Chemistry Camp programme.

The Royal Society of Chemistry India and Salters’ Institute UK are conducting a three-day residential Chemistry Camp programme for 9th standard students at the Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) from 23rd -25th November 2017. The aim of the Salters Chemistry Camps is to promote appreciation for chemistry by providing school students from diverse backgrounds, an opportunity to explore practical chemistry and inspire them to pursue chemistry at university and further.

 

Sixty seven 9th standard school students from various government schools of Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur will participate in a three-day residential Chemistry Camp programme that infuses fun in learning chemistry and motivate students to develop both – an awareness of and a long-term interest in chemical sciences.

 

The Salters’ Chemistry Camps India, part of the “Inspirational Chemistry Programme” project in India, has been supported by Dr. Yusuf Hamied (Non-executive Chairman- Cipla Limited) a leading Indian philanthropist and pioneer in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Hamied has committed INR 8 crore for this five-year programme which includes training school teachers as well.

 

This is the first Chemistry camp conducted at Manipal University Jaipur, with an earlier camp conducted at MIT Mangalore, Manipal in January 2017. In total, fifteen Salters Chemistry camps training over 950 students have been completed, since the launch of this programme in 2015.
