Rajasthan, Deputy Secretary, Rajasthan Kishan Ayog, Chief Operational Officer, Rajasthan Olive Cultivation Limited; presented his talk covering the pros and cons of the career in different biotech, agriculture and pharma companies.

Department of Biosciences, School of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Science in collaboration with Directorate of Admissions, Manipal University Jaipur successfully organised Online Career Counselling: The Next Boom in Biological Sciences, A Golden Path for Tomorrow’s Jobs on September 18, 2020.This event had around 197 registrations from across the India. The session began with an inaugural ceremony in which Prof. AK Mukhopadhyay, Dean, Faculty of Science welcomed all the online participants. He focused on the different outcome visibility of the Biosciences.

 

Prof. Lalita Ledwani, Director, SBS congratulated the organising team of the conference and told the participants about the importance of this conference in the present pandemic conditions. She talked about the multi-interdisciplinary aspects of BSc Hons. course and the experienced faculty of Biosciences. Dr Abhijeet Singh, Head, Biosciences shared some of the distinctive features of the Biosciences Department. He highlighted the 1-2 crores of running project, international publication, MOUs with different institution and experienced faculties.In career counselling sessions, Industry Personnel, Mr Surinder Singh Shekhawat, Joint Director, Agricultural Dept. He also emphasized the importance of practical and hands on experiences that will add more career oriented in companies.

 

Mr. Prashant Goswami, father of a BSc Vth semester, talked about his personal experiences for the biotechnology fields and expressed his views regarding the environment in Manipal University Jaipur. Ms Pavni Rekhi, a current 3rd year BSc Hons student connect her views about the scopes of biotechnology fields in the arena of Covid 19 pandemic. She also boosted all participants to never underestimates their abilities and ask them to plan accordingly for the future perspectives. Further, Ms Shubhangi Seth, BSc Vth Sem, also connect her views regarding the admission in Biotechnology program after the NEETexam. After that, the career counselling session is opened for the queries for the participants in the field of Biological Sciences. A lot of career queries like placements, jobs fellowships, core areas like cancer biology, microbiology, biochemistry etc had been taken by all the experienced faculties and solved their queries with their different viewpoints.The event was remarkably concluded with Sharda Vandana by Moushmi Goswami, BSc Vth Sem.

 

The whole event was successfully and meticulously moderated by Dr Swati GuptaThe conference ended with a vote of thanks by convener Dr. Nitesh Kumar Poddar in which he acknowledged the support provided by the Chairperson, President, Pro-President and Registrar of Manipal University Jaipur in organizing the event. He also acknowledged Prof. AK Mukhopadhyay, Dean, Faculty of Science; Dr Lalita Ledwani, Director, SBS; Dr Abhijeet Singh, HOD, Biosciences and other faculties members for their constant support and cooperation to make this event a huge success. He was also thankful to Directorate of Admission for their timely support and guidance for the event.At the end of the session, participants appreciated the talks given by the speakers. They also requested the organisers that since this session serves the need of the hour, similar session should be re-organised in days to come.
