Department of Languages organized expert lecture on 'Life and Literature'

ABOUT THE EVENT

An online Expert Lecture was organized on Life and Literature through MS Teams by the Department of Languages for the students of BA (Hons) English, MA (English), and Ph.D. scholars of the Department of Languages, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Manipal University Jaipur. The resource person, Dr Devendra Singh, Associate Professor & Academic Head, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi delivered the expert lecture. His areas of expertise include Teaching English, Literature, Language and Policy Formulation, Literary Theories, Translation Studies, and Indian Writing in English.

At the very onset, Dr Yashoda Verma, Asst. Professor and Coordinator of the Expert Lecture welcomed the resource person, Dr Devendra Singh. Head, Department of Languages, Dr Tanuja Yadav further welcomed the speaker for the lecture. Dr Devendra Singh started his lecture by quoting real life experience. He started his narration with the theory of real science, atom, and atomic analysis. He extended his speech by quoting philosophy of ‘Dhvait’ dualism. He said that everything in the world is a result of two binary oppositions, positive and negative. Further he emphasized on the acquisition of knowledge through mind and heart. He quoted some lines from ‘Bhagwat Geeta.’

Dr Devendra Singh endorsed the philosophy of ‘Idealism’ by Plato which describes the double copy of the imitation., a double copy of our imagination in the form of literature like “Jaha Na Pahuche Ravi Vaha Pahuche Kavi.” All sciences are literature which have a vast interpretation and importance in our life. He endorsed this concept by quoting certain poets like Dryden, Tennyson, P.B. Shelly to tell the real philosophy of life, “To Seek, to Strive and not to Yield.”

The session further ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Prof. N. D. Mathur, Director, SHSS to Dr Devendra Singh.
