PROGRAM DETAILS - B.TECH (Biotechnology)

OVERVIEW

To contribute to society by developing green materials, bio-inspired materials and healthcare associated products and technologies, demand for Biotechnology Engineers in industries is increasing every year. Application of biological insight is also becoming popular in healthcare and industries such as the materials, chemicals, food and fuels. With a strong foundation in chemical and biological sciences, and bioprocess engineering, our biotechnology engineers have excellent skills to tackle the complex problems facing society.

The engineering degree program B. Tech. (Biotechnology) prepares students for careers in healthcare, industry, and research in emerging areas including chemical, biologicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, brewery, biomaterials, biomedical engineering, water treatment, biofuels, and enzyme processing industries. It is also an ideal degree for students planning on pursuing higher education in India and abroad.

The MUJ Edge (WHY MUJ)

  • Strong legacy of Manipal Group in education.
  • NBA, NAAC (A+), AICTE, and UGC accredited university.
  • Highly qualified and experienced faculty members who aim is to impart high quality education by fostering sustainability principles to improve the quality of life by mainly focusing on society and environment related problems.
  • State-of-the art laboratories  and facilities guiding students to excel in areas of interest.
  • Students do hands on projects and customize their degree with courses from other schools.
  • Inculcate leadership qualities and guide students towards entrepreneurship and research.

SCHEME & CURRICULUM

  • Click Here to download Scheme for BTech (Biotechnology).

We have completely revised our curriculum to adopt and align our program with the foundational tenets of the new National Education Policy 2020 developed by the Government of India.  With 160 semester credits over eight semesters, we offer our students a wide variety of technology, basic sciences, and humanities courses. With ample hands-on laboratory and project experience, coupled with focus areas in the latest computational fields, we train our student to not only become well-qualified engineering, but also high-achieving Global Leaders.

Our curriculum includes

Foundational Courses in the First Year such as: Basic Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural Engineering, Biology for Engineers, Engineering Chemistry and Physics, Calculus and Matrices, Numerical Methods, Environmental Studies and Universal Human Values.

Departmental and Flexible Core Courses bring the latest trends in each discipline.  Additionally, we permit our engineering students to take program electives across all engineering disciplines and achieve focus area in the latest technologies such as Cyber Security, Artificial Engineering, Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, and many more.

In our Industry-Expert led courses, we partner with our industry veterans and develop the courses reflecting the latest industry trends.

With our University Electives, our students can develop their non-technology interests with courses from our other faculty such as Design, Arts, Science, Management and Law.

Opportunities for our students to do individual, mentored research projects, internships and semester long projects, results in an overall well-rounded and skilled engineer sought by the leading companies.
